How I got the article-
The way that I received this article was purely by curiosity. Info wars is a pretty Infamous site for their fake news. Alex Jones himself has even kicked off of YouTube for being a conspiracy theorist. He made very offensive claims that one of the shootings was actually fake. He’s also memed a lot. But for the most part I was curious as to what was on the site and I found this article.
Infowars has made the claim that more American newborns die the day they are born than in any other developed nations. This piece is to dissuade people from getting abortions in the United States. They use the source Children’sHealthdefense.Org as their source to back up their claim. When entering this site you will find that you require a sign up for free news and updates pop up. And the site itself seems to I have a political bias. When I looked up the site itself it seemed to be covered by conservative only sites. It was covered by conservativewoman.Com and thelibrarybeacon.com
( Which does not seem to exist anymore.)
The article itself claims that the u.s. ranked lowest among 20 developed Nations for child mortality since the 1990s and currently ranks behind 55 other countries worldwide for infant mortality.
So this got me thinking about where exactly did this site get that information from. CNN got the report from a site called “save the children” which ranked 172 countries to explain the main reasons onto childhood fatalities. The article said that many adolescents are dying from injuries.
As the post continues Info wars attaches another article that says NY post birth abortion legalizes torture of babies. Which at first sounds quite horrid. But this is obviously more of a fear-mongering statement rather than a fact. Also I would recommend not looking at the imagery posted from this article. It shows gruesome images of dead children behind the people if you passed the bill. A video is also provided below. This video seems to be more fear-mongering with the guest claiming that abortion clinics can kill babies anyway they want. Raging from suffocating it with a bag or stomping on it. Which I looked up. Abortion procedures according to plannedparenthood.org do not include Suffocation nor stomping on the fetus. Nor does it say that they use scissors to kill the baby. Instead they say that they use a vacuum aspiration to gently suck the uterus empty.
Infowars also claims that more American newborns die the day they are born then in any other developed Nations. Their source of information being from NBC News this time. This article being published April 30th 2013 by Maggie Fox. Which is a bit outdated for an article made in 2019.
This article says the u.s. is worse than 60 other countries, including Egypt, Turkey and Peru. They received their information from a place called “Save the children.”
Apparently a million babies die every year globally on the same day that they are born and more than 11,000 of them are American. Then a little bit later they say that an estimated 11300 newborns die each year from the United States and apparently this is 50% more than first aid deaths than all other industrialized countries combined. So this got me thinking about what exactly is killing these children? Apparently most babies died because they were either born too early, they have birth defects, infections,or there were complications at birth. Which brings up the question why does this relate back to abortion? It’s simply just things that happen out of our control.
So in conclusion ,Infowars takes some truths ( whether it be extremely minor truths) and spins them into political gain. They also outright lie with abortion procedures to make them seem more horrific than they actually are. The guest within the video that’s provided by Alex Jones makes bold claims that are false. Doctors do not suffocate babies with bags nor do they stomp on the babies. Its almost disgusting how gruesome their claims are.I also feel that they tried to link different things for different conclusions. But from a majority of the article I feel that they we’re not exactly connecting their sources with what they were saying. For a majority of the article I was confused on how how is certain things connected. Like why does hospital deaths due to complications related to abortions? I think all they were doing was perverting the truth to push their own ideals. And when I say they take some truths I am saying that they take information and they draw different conclusions than the information actually gives. I feel like the article is actually more opinion based rather than factual. And some people can find it a little bit of offensive because of what do using this information for. I also couldn’t find any articles about what the guest was talking about. For the most part I couldn’t find evidence to abortion clinics stomping on babies. It’s a little weird that he made that claim. But I’m assuming it’s purely for fear-mongering. Which is pretty common for the Alex Jones Show I mean after all it was taken off of YouTube. But for the most part I do not think that this article is factual in the aspect of what they’re trying to get at. Although it’s two different articles they are connected on the same page and they allude to each other.
